Job Description

The successful candidate will be required to pass an Advanced proficiency Spanish/English language examination assessing the following skills: oral communication, reading comprehension, interpreting AND translating text from the Spanish language to the English language and vice versa.


Position may be underfilled at the Community Services Aide II level. Grade 16, Salary: $37,457 - $61,498.


This is community service work which involves providing instruction, advice and guidance to internal and external customers and coordinating efforts and advocating with them. This employee serves as the initial contact, answers questions and provides selected information to clients through telephone and personal interviews; provides prenatal and orientation sessions for women in the Maternity Partnership Program; interprets for non-English speaking clients; assists clients in filling out forms by interviewing, completing and/or reviewing applications as well as completes client program records to qualify applicants for assistance; makes specific referrals to appropriate agencies providing emergency food, clothing, shelter, etc.; performs pregnancy testing and reviews immunization records; maintains the childhood immunization/vaccine supply in the health center. The employee may do home visits under the direction of a Community Health Nurse.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Three (3) years of experience providing delivery of social, health and/or public assistance services.

NOTE: For the CSA II level - Experience: Two (2) years of experience providing delivery of social, health and/or public assistance services, one year of which involved the delivery of services specific to those provided in the assigned position.

Education: Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

The highest rated applicants will be placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for interview.  Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for interview. Note: In the event there are 5 or less minimally qualified candidates, all will be placed on the Eligible List as Qualified and will be interviewed.
